Information

Sitting on a five square mile site at the eastern edge of the island around 11 miles northeast of Marina Bay, Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), known the world over as Changi Airport is Singapore’s major international airport serving 75 airlines including Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines Cargo and SilkAir flying to over 300 cities in 80+ countries. Every week approximately 6,600 flights take off and land (around one every 90 seconds) and in 2014, 54m passengers passed through the airport.

Since 2000, Singapore Changi Airport has been voted the World’s Best Airport at the World Airport Awards five times and as well as state-of-the-art check-in and security facilities, you will find world-class shopping, dining, pampering, plenty of activities to keep the children occupied and even nature trails through pockets of lush greenery including the Cactus Garden, Sunflower Garden and Orchid Garden.

In December 2014, work started on Jewel Changi Airport, a five-story up and five-story down steel and glass biosphere scheduled to be completed in 2018 that will house a hotel, airport facilities, playgrounds, shops, restaurants and bars and the centrepiece Forest Valley. The indoor ecosystem will be full of thousands of trees, plants, ferns and shrubs as well as walking trails surrounding a 40m-high water feature known as the Rain Vortex and when finished it will be the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.

The world’s best airport is about to get a whole lot better.

Restaurants

Changi Airport is unlike any airport you’ve ever been to. It’s a mini-city where you’ll even find people who aren’t going anywhere eating, drinking and meeting friends. Long gone are the days of extortionately-priced soggy, dry sandwiches, lukewarm coffee and watery soft drinks.

There are over 80 places to eat and drink both in the public and transit areas and you can choose from a wide selection of bars, cafés, restaurants, fast-food joints and coffee shops.

You can find food from all over the world, from traditional Singaporean and Southeast Asian cuisine, seafood specialities, traditional pubs and sports bars as well as dedicated vegetarian and Halal restaurants.

The famous fast-food burger and chicken chains are well represented, as are the coffee shops you find on every city-centre corner and for a special treat, there are doughnut and cupcake outlets to keep your blood-sugar levels topped-up!

If you’ve got time to spare you can sit at any one of dozens of excellent restaurants and if you’ve spent too much time in Duty Free or getting a pedicure, there’s takeaways-a-plenty.

The choice is all yours…
