The Golf

The ninth HSBC Women’s Champions tournament, dubbed ‘the Asian major’, takes place at the par-72 Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club on 3-6 March 2016.

As always, the field is strong. 2015 champion Inbee Park from South Korea leads a line-up that includes at least 18 of the world’s top 20 female players such as world number one Lydia Ko and 2014 winner Paula Creamer. Koh Sock Hwee, who won the host country qualifying tournament, will be representing Singapore.

Seven-time major winner Park said “the tournament is one of the best in the world and always has one of the toughest fields we play all year so it’s a great tournament to play’”and Lydia Ko chipped in with “with the likes of Take That and Jack Novak entertaining the fans and players, 2016 will be the best yet. I am very excited about it.”

While the golf takes center stage, the organizers want to create a fully inclusive experience for everyone coming to the event. SVP of IMG Robbie Henchman said “golf, music and food enthusiasts will be treated to a completed new experience at the HSBC Women’s Champions in March. We have transformed the dynamics of the event to ensure that the three different components all work together, making for an entirely new visitor experience.”

You can even snap a selfie with the players by the scoring hut and pick up some tips from the pros at the driving range.

The Music

Iconic Brit-pop boyband Take That is headlining on Saturday night and for all ticket info, click here or call +65 6348 5555. Now a three-piece made up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, they return to Singapore for the first time in 20 years. Unfortunately they’re not “Back for Good’” but we will all “Pray’”they sing “A Million Love Songs’” for what could be their “Greatest Day”!

The men from Manchester will be ably supported by two of Singapore’s top DJs, DJ Farz and DJ Li.A who’ll be spinning top tunes soon after play stops for the day and one of Chicago’s top EDM stars – Electronic Dance Music for the uninitiated – Jack Novak plays a set to look forward to on Saturday.

The Food

You’ll know Monica Galetti as Michel Roux’s ridiculously talented senior sous-chef at Le Gavroche and his (and now Marcus Wareing’s) good-cop, bad cop partner on Masterchef: The Professionals. This week, the most famous Samoan-born New Zealand chef in the world joins the HSBC Women’s Champions to preview her international restaurant debut MERE opening in autumn 2016 in Fitzrovia in London.

Monica will be serving her unique creations to visitors throughout the event and Prego, one of Singapore’s favorite Italian restaurants will be serving up a range of the Garden City’s favorite dishes. We promise you won’t go hungry!

The 2016 HSBC Women’s Champions tournament promises to be the best one yet so if you’re in Singapore this week, come down to Sentosa for an event like no other!
