Singapore with the kids

With so many water parks, an amazing aquarium and animal parks, Singapore is one of the best cities in Asia to take your kids. This ultra-clean city has plenty of green spaces, kid-friendly activities and safe streets, making it a great introduction to Asia. We’ve selected four kid-friendly activities that will make this an unforgettable visit for all the family.

1 – Get soaked at the water parks

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that hot weather plus water parks equals the best family-vacation day ever. Suit up and head to Wild Wild Wet where kids (and adults) can play in the wave pool, take advantage of the water playground and coast down the Shiok River. With rides with names like Torpedo, Vortex and Free Fall, this is also a place for adrenaline-junkies. Water activities don’t have to be confined to the waterpark: if you want to get wet while exploring the city, you’re in luck – many plazas have fountains to play in and the Gardens by the Bay also has a free water-play area.

2 – Explore the award-winning Singapore Zoo

Don’t be surprised if it feels like you’re entering a real rainforest here – the animals roam freely in natural habitats in this zoo. Explore on foot or on a guided tram as you visit the ‘savannah grasslands’ and spot lions, zebras and rhinoceroses, or discover the Australasia zone with its kangaroos and wallabies. Get up close and personal with animals in the Rainforest Kidzworld zone: Here, kids can brush the manes of miniature horses, pet goats and feed rabbits. Don’t forget to bring swimsuits, because the zoo also has a water park with plenty of slides and shooting fountains.

3 – Meet your favorite characters at Universal Studios

On Sentosa Island, Universal Studios is an escape inspired by you and your kids’ favorite movies. Thanks to seven themed sections with tons of rides and shows, you’ll want to spend all day here. Visit the Lost World (based on the Jurassic Park movies) to see a T-rex, head over to Far, Far Away to marvel at a castle straight out of Shrek and get ready to meet Minions and Madagascar characters. The park has kid-friendly rides such as King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round and Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey, as well as Battlestar Galactica roller coasters and the Transformers ride for more adventurous visitors. Factor in 30 restaurants and food carts, movie screenings and musical parades, and you might need to visit more than once.

4 – Swim with dolphins at Dolphin Island

Take advantage of this rare chance to interact with dolphins at this special spot on Sentosa Island. In small groups, trainers teach kids hand-tricks for the dolphins to respond to; your little ones will even get to touch the animals – a magical experience that they won’t soon forget.  Bring your swimsuits, arrive early to avoid crowds and make time for the on-site waterpark afterwards.
