OK, we know what you’re thinking. A bar that stays open most days until 4.00pm surely can’t be considered an Adelaide nightspot, can it? Not in the true sense of drinking expensive cocktails and dancing until 3am perhaps, but come Friday night and you won’t want to be anywhere else.
Find the West End brewery on the bank of the Torrens River. Look behind it for an old railway shed and go inside. A bit of a treasure hunt it may be but when you get there you’ll be pleased you paid attention in orienteering lessons at school. By day it’s one of Adelaide’s quirkiest cafés but on a Friday night the place transforms into a super-cool nightspot with a very relaxed, chilled-out vibe that’s close to the city but feels like you’re a million miles away.
The Latin-inspired breakfast menu includes the Volcano Omelette and a posh ham ‘n’ cheese toastie and the lunch menu has such delights as a Chilean pulled brisket sandwich, a Peruvian quinoa soup and a Cuban meat feast and all the food is lovingly prepared in-house from locally-sourced produce. On Friday nights the place transforms into Char/Bar where the guys pull out the BBQ and grill up South Australia’s premium meat cuts, fantastic seafood and veggies over hot coals and they suggest coming with an empty stomach and ‘strolling your way through the menu’.
They will happily pair your food with some of the best South Australian wines from Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Southern Fleurieu and some truly outstanding craft beers and ciders from all over the state.
Entropy is neither a bank-buster nor a place where you’ll find Adelaide’s hardcore night-owls but if you want something very different, very cool and very chilled from your nights out in Adelaide try a Friday night at Entropy.
