Is there anything more chilled out than sitting on the sidewalk outside an authentic Parisian bistro sipping a glass of wine and eating a Croque Monsieur or some delicious French cheeses? You can of course do this on every street corner in the French capital but there’s only one authentic place you can do it in Singapore and that’s at Ô Batignolles.
Located in the Club Street area that heaves with the after-work crowd and is closed on weekends so people spill out into the streets and French owners Antoine and Marie-Charlotte have created a very distinctly French bar and bistro packed full of French expats and Singapore’s ‘tres chic’ millennials.
As you’d expect, the wine list has been extremely well curated and is very affordable, with many of them exclusive to Ô Batignolles. There’s a fine selection of beers, spirits and post-10pm S$10 cocktails that perfectly complement the very, very French menu!
You can choose from sharing plates of artisanal French cheese and cold cuts, classic salads (La Grecque, La César et La Niçoise) and staples that you’ll find on most self-respecting French bistro menu including reblochon and bacon puff, quiche Lorraine and ‘le sandwich Jambon-Comte.’
In their own words, ‘Ô Batignolles reproduces exactly the soothing feeling of a nice Parisian bistro, where you can relax and enjoy a nice meal or drink any time of the day’ and if you throw in the traditional Singaporean pastime of world-class people watching, you’ve got a very chilled out bar full of chilled out people watching other chilled out people chilling out.
