National Wine Centre of Australia

Corner of Botanic and Hackney Roads
Adelaide
SA 5000 Australia

The National Wine Centre of Australia is located on the edge of Adelaide’s Botanic Gardens and it showcases Australia’s rich wine history – from the challenges of winemaking to the pure enjoyment of drinking it – in an engaging, fun and very interactive way if you’re over 18!

The open cellar – on of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest – holds 38,000 bottles but you won’t be surprised to know that the most popular activity here is the Group Tour and Wine Tasting. For beginners, you will be introduced to three wines and learn the basics about how to ‘taste’ wine and for the more initiated, there is a ‘Fine Wine Tasting’ complete with a hosted tour and three wines specially selected from the cellar reserve.

Take a state-of-the-art interactive Wine Discovery Journey where you can ‘come to understand the role wine has played in history, recognise the position of Australian wine in today’s international market and appreciate the relationship between food and wine.’

Australia’s largest tasting room is in the Wined Bar and here you’ll be able to sample 120 different wines and there are highly experienced wine experts on hand to help you select your perfect bottle based on taste and budget.

Once you’ve tasted the amazing Australian wines, the Cellar Door is open for delicious tapas featuring fresh produce sourced primarily from SA prepared by chef Judyta Slupnicki and of course with the food, a complementary glass of wine is essential.

The National Wine Centre of Australia is, in their own words, ‘an architectural treat’ and is an exciting, informative, interesting and fun place to be and one of Asutralia’s best tourist attractions.
