Singapore Restaurants

Les Amis

1 Scotts Road
#01-16 Shaw Centre
Singapore 228208

Voted number 13 in the list of Asia’s Top 50 restaurants, Les Amis under the stewardship of Chef de Cuisine Sebastien Lepinoy has created a fusion of classical French techniques with Asian influences to stunning effect.

Located in the heart of the Orchard Road shopping district, Les Amis, with its four private rooms, rightly sits at the top table of Singapore’s fine dining rooms and the classic décor replete with leather chairs, lush velvet and chandeliers says that this is a restaurant that competes on every level with the very best in the world.

Three menus – Classic (S$170), Signature (S$225) and Tasting (S$285) – are as impressively innovative as you’d expect. Lobster bisque balanced with celeriac hot jelly and mikado of black truffle, oyster soufflé in an asparagus velouté, poached cod with caviar and pan-seared foie gras and French eel are just a few examples of the exquisite dishes that, in the restaurant’s own words ‘delightfully compliment the local palate and climate.’

While the food is undoubtedly sensational, the 74-page wine list is arguably even more impressive. Boasting one of the finest wine cellars in all of Asia comprising over 3,000 bottles, 85% are  mainly French Burgundy and Bordeaux and the remainder are balanced Old and New World wines and award-winning Director of Wine Timothy Goh is a master at creating perfect matches to suit palate or budget. Useful on the basis that a double magnum of 1995 Romanée-Conti will set you back S$120,000, a magnum of 1982 Petrus S$31,800 and a magnum of 1959 Château Lafite Rothschild S$27,120.

Les Amis offers a near-perfect dining experience and it’s no surprise that it remains, as it has done for many years, the go-to restaurant for Singapore’s discerning gastronomes.
