Sister of, and next door to casual dining restaurant Rabbit Carrot Gun, The Trenchard Arms has been described as a ‘playful, relaxed gastropub specializing in craft beers and ales with personality’ and as quintessentially British a watering hole you couldn’t wish to find.
The menu is unashamedly geared towards ex-pats and includes home comforts such as a Ploughman’s with Melton Mowbray pork pies, Scotch Eggs, proper pies and sausage rolls, fish ‘n’ chips, chicken in a basket and sausage and mash! Don’t forget the thing we all crave when we’re away from home – the classic bacon sandwich on white bread with a dollop of good old HP sauce!
Don’t forget to save some room for sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice-cream, rhubarb crumble or an old-school lemon posset.
Craft beers and ales including Old Speckled Hen, Speights, Guinness and Kilkenny and there’s also a decent selection of cider – Strongbow, Bulmer’s and Sheppy’s as well as Crabbie’s Ginger Beer!
The Trenchard Arms is one of Singapore’s most chilled watering holes and in a literary nod to George Orwell it somehow manages to put both beer and atmosphere first. It’s a great place to be, everyone is friendly and smiling and it’s a true taste of home three degrees north of the equator.
