The Adelaide Fringe

64 Fullarton Road
South Australia 5067

Think Rio Carnival mixed with New Orleans’ Mardi Gras with more than a sprinkling of the Edinburgh Festival and you have the Adelaide Fringe, the largest and most diverse open-access arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere.

For 24 days every year during the fantastic summer months of February and March, you’ll find 4,000+ artists from around the world performing in almost 1,000 events in parks and open spaces, disused buildings, warehouses, hotels, theatres, cafés, galleries and laneway houses (for those outside of Australia, a laneway house is a small, detached house built on a domestic lot where the garage would normally go).

Anyway, the Fringe is an incredibly eclectic programme of events and performances including cabaret, music, comedy, circus, dance, film, theatre, visual arts and puppetry and over 1.5m people descend on the city for a month of serious fun!

Anyone can perform at the Adelaide Fringe and events are both free and priced so check before you go – sometimes you’ll be in a world-class 2,000 seat theatre and sometimes you’ll be in an alley behind a warehouse but wherever you are you are guaranteed a good time with a massive helping of legendary Aussie hospitality around every corner.

At the Adelaide Fringe you will be, in their own words ‘awash with choices, with artists of all genres, in venues of all sizes and styles. We foster new talent, independence and risk-taking. We aim to surprise and forever present the unexpected. We are open access for all.’

This is the place to see ground breaking work, new talent, original voices, new ideas and innovative thinking, day and night.
