Old Bus Depot Markets

21 Wentworth Markets
ACT 2604 Australia

There’s no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Canberra that at the Old Bus Depot Markets. The award-winning Sunday market is housed, as the name suggests, in an old bus depot and is a veritable hotbed of creativity and local artisan works by regional arts and craftspeople.

There are over 200 stalls featuring cool clothes, home and garden ware, jewellery and accessories, art, photography and books, antiques and collectables, amazing locally produced food from juices to tacos to cakes to wholefoods, breads, cheeses, sweets and chocolates and food from all over the world.

Every now and again the market is themed so keep an eye on the website for details but when you’re here you can take a break with a coffee and something sweet while you listen to local musicians play over the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

In 1992, founders Morna Whiting and Diane Hinds asked ‘would Canberra embrace a high quality weekly market?’ and the answer has been a resounding ‘yes’! Thousands flock here every Sunday and brand new for March 2016 is The Photography Room, a gallery promoting local and national photographers including group exhibitions and solo shows as well as prints portfolios and bespoke second-hand photography books.

The Old Bus Depot Market is a cool place to be with a relaxed, almost Bohemian vibe and if you’re looking for something different to do on a Sunday in Canberra, you may have stumbled on just the thing but bring lots of money because around every corner you’ll say ‘I want that!’
