The National Museum of Singapore tells the story of this great city-state in an innovative, fun, interesting and interactive way. The oldest museum in the nation sits within one of Asia’s grandest neo-classical buildings overlooking Fort Canning Park.
The museum has a fine permanent collection proudly representing the rich and vibrant history of Singapore as well as hosting some of the finest travelling exhibitions from the world’s preeminent museums. You’ll also find a programme of talks for both adults and children, theatrical performances, educational classes and live performances. There is also an open-air cinema called Under the Banyan Tree showing classic films so check what’s on before you come.
PLAY @ NMS is a dedicated area for children to encourage learning through play and to get them to take their first, tentative steps into the world of museum-going! They can get messy, wet and creative as well as unleashing their artistic potential in the specially-curated theatre space.
You won’t go hungry either. There are two fine dining restaurants and a café as well as a very impressive gift shop and we’re sure you’ll have a fantastic day out at Singapore’s most iconic museum.
